Every year at BuildThatBeat we scour the web to find some of the best holiday software deals for aspiring producers. It’s now that time again for us to continue our traditional holiday buyers guide for the 2017 season. So grab yourself a blanket and some hot coco, and get ready for the best season for music production deals. As the great Tom Haverford once said, you gotta Treat Yo Self.
Also, as we say every year, if you’ve been using software from “a friend,” this would be a great opportunity to purchase for yourself at great discounts. As with most holiday deals, these prices don’t usually last long so do your research and move quickly. We’re going to work through December to add/update the list as deals change, so make sure to check back throughout the holiday. Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Deals –
Fruity Loops – Image Line (Fruity Loops software team) just announced their discount for the year. Over the last few years they had a great deal of up to 30% off on their software, plugins, and even their mobile products (Fruity Loops for IOS and Android). This time around it looks like they are only offering a discount on their plugins to the tune of 40%.
Whats on Sale? All plugins (not core software unfortunately)

What might be new this year: If you’re also looking to buy a new laptop and drop $1500+ on a Razer Blade (we’re actually big fans), you do have the option of getting a free copy of Fruity Loops (with lifetime free updates). Not a bad deal — $200 worth of software for free. Looks like the deal is running through November 30th, but we’ve seen it pop up over the summer as well. If you don’t have the funds quite yet, just keep an eye on this one.

Ableton Live – Ableton usually comes through for us just about every single year with pretty good discounts. If you’re an Ableton Live first-timer, you’re able to grab the intro level software for only $79 bucks. Otherwise it looks like various packs and the Push hardware are at a discount as well. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Ableton is running anything special right now. We’re seeing 20% off, which isn’t new. However, if you’re currently a student you can take advantage of a 40% discount year-round. A little disappointing.

Virtual Studio Technologies (VSTs)
Izotope – Izotope, probably best known for the Ozone mastering suite has a number of deals going on for the 2017 holiday season. If you’re a slightly more experienced producer with a focus from creation to perfection, this might be a good time to pick up some Izotope software. We’re really only able to speak to the Ozone product, but it’s really a fantastic solution for mastering.

Native Instruments (NI)– Native Instruments is bringing their annual 50% off deal back once again for 2017. Native Instruments (NI) is probably best known for their ‘Massive” synthesizer which has historically been one of the most used VSTs in EDM production. Not a bad time to pick up NI products. That said, this seems to be the same from year-to-year so no big rush if you can’t afford it this time around.

Spire– Reveal Sound is hooking us all up again in 2017 with a great holiday deal for Black Friday. They are giving us a 30% discount on their Spire VST as well as some sound bundles. This deal is the same as previous years, so if it’s far down on your list you shouldn’t worry too much. Also make sure you take some time and download the demo (which they highly encourage) to see if this is the right software for you.

Sylenth1– Arguably one of the most used VST’s across the entire industry, Lennar Digital’s Sylenth can be yours for 25% off of retail price. One important note for everyone is that this is meant as a BLACK FRIDAY ONLY deal. The code expires on November 27th.
